The Education Portfolio supports the development and implementation of the University’s strategy and vision for teaching, learning and the student experience. The portfolio contributes to institution-wide developments aimed at improving student learning, including the University’s approach to curriculum renewal, new thinking in pedagogy, learning and teaching analytics, e-learning and quality assurance for learning and teaching. The portfolio also provides strategic direction for students’ engagement in student life, including a well-supported transition to the University, support for academic choices for life and career, and a student experience supportive of the University’s educational aspirations.

The role

As an English Language Teacher, you will teach English language programs to international students at the University’s Centre for English Teaching (CET).

We are developing an eligibility list of Casual Teachers for our peak period consisting of 5-week terms commencing from June 2024 through to January 2025.

Available positions are mostly for experienced teachers of Academic English, full-time (20 hours per week) and part time (8 – 12 hours per week). This is a zero-hour contract and does not guarantee work throughout January 2025, as teaching hours are determined by the number of students and classes and the needs of the centre.

Classes are held Mondays – Fridays between 8.00am-12.15pm, 12.20pm-4.35pm or 4.40pm-9.00pm and delivered on-campus.

  • Experience and skills in blended learning
  • Initiative, adaptability and flexibility
  • High level of cultural awareness

Qualifications required:

  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent)
  • Recognised TESOL qualification

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience in teaching high level academic English
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Experience in teaching across a range of programs (academic, general, English for Health Professionals, English for Engineers, other ESP)
  • Postgraduate degree

We are currently seeking outstanding contractor casual trainers to join our dedicated team for face-to-face classes at our Gold Coast campus to deliver course ICT60220 Advanced Diploma in Information Technology.

The role

The Trainer and Assessor is an essential role responsible for delivering quality training and assessment programs that grow and develop students into work ready graduates under the standards required by RTO and external accreditation/ regulatory authorities.

 In this role you will be:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver courses / training as assigned by Academic State Manager and according to the training package or accredited course.
  • Ensure all students are provided with up-to-date training plans.
  • Deliver engaging training via the most relevant delivery modes e.g. classroom, workshop, distance, virtual or traineeship (on-the-job).
  • Identify and establish the learning needs of the student to tailor training and assessment relevant to those needs.
  • Ensure students understand and progress in line with their training plan and course.
  • Ensure students understand and comply with progression and attendance policy
  • Facilitate work placement opportunities for students (if required)
  • Develop and apply innovative teaching techniques that will keep the students engaged and interested
  • Develop activities and tools that will enhance the students’ learning experience
  • Plan, conduct and review assessment of student competence.
  • Distribute and explain assessment plans and processes.
  • Ensure students understand and comply with progression and attendance policy.
  • Inform students about and conduct RPL assessment.
  • Inform students about appeals should it be required.
  • Participate in Assessment support programs and sessions with students and management
  • Contribute to the design of training and assessment materials.
  • Complete any assigned assessment marking in a timely manner and as required

Successful candidates will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116;
  • Qualifications relevant to the scope of teaching or Diploma or higher level qualification in adult education
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) activities in the relevant area
  • Practicing Trainers and Assessors must also provide evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) activities for the VET industry in training and assessment
