In the first week of September 2017, NEAS CEO Patrick Pheasant attended the GAELA and ST ALPHE UK events in London, United Kingdom. At GAELA (the Global Alliance of Education and Language Associations) summit, NEAS was recognised as a full member and attended a workshop with 20 other English language professional associations, peak bodies and quality assurance agencies. GAELA meets annually to share solutions to similar issues that are being faced by the members around visas, student engagement, education agency partnerships and benchmarking (www.gaela.net).
Patrick also held meetings with 44 partners, agents, providers and other stakeholders at the ST ALPHE UK conference over the weekend, promoting the NEAS brand and the quality services of NEAS members. This conference is held every year in London, with 421 agents, 335 educators and 46 service providers attending. 60 different student markets are represented by agents, with a total of 1017 participants attending the event (www.studytravel.network).
The highlight of the event was the StudyTravel Star Awards Gala Dinner. Three of the five finalists for the ST Star English Language School Southern Hemisphere were NEAS Quality Endorsed Centres. Congratulations to the teams at Inforum Education, Impact English College and Langports English Language College for making the final nominations!
