Date: 9th May 2019
Time: 13:55 – 14:40
In this session, Study NSW and the University of Newcastle will showcase initiatives to enhance the international student experience in NSW, with particular focus on the English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) sector.
Study NSW aims to maintain the state’s position as one of the world’s most popular study destinations. Peter Mackey, Director of Study NSW at the NSW Department of Industry, will talk about projects the NSW Government is delivering to ensure international students have a positive experience studying and living in NSW.
A key Study NSW program is the NSW International Student Awards which are now open for nominations. Study NSW encourages the ELICOS sector to nominate their students and eligible organisations to recognise them for excellence in community engagement. The Awards are highly prestigious, providing great exposure for shortlisted students and education providers.
The University of Newcastle was a joint winner in the 2018 NSW International Student Awards for Community Engagement. The University will provide an interactive discussion about its award-winning ELICOS Student Experience Passport, which is a gamification program that empowers ELICOS students to participate in meaningful extra-curricular engagement activities with the general student community and the wider Australian community.
