Coming to the University of Western Australia in June, NEAS will be working with participants through two courses in a one-day event. See below for registration and info!
Designed for Teachers and Academic Managers
7th June – 10:00am – 1:00pm (AWT)
This workshop sheds light on aesthetic engagement – those aha! moments in the language learning classroom, when international students of English have an academic, emotional, intellectual or artistic breakthrough in their language learning as a result of their participation in Drama in ELT.
Research and best practice unravels these moments of heightened aesthetic engagement in the classroom; explores what they are and how they contribute to language learning. Using process drama pedagogy in TESOL, the research explores how students in a process drama become aesthetically engaged and the implication of such engagement on learning.
This workshop is interactive and explores practical ideas for innovative teaching.
Designed for ELT Professionals
7th June – 1:30pm – 04:30pm (AWT)
Every organisation needs leaders that pursue quality. Whether in management, teaching or administration, a leader in English Language Teaching (ELT) influences the decisions of others through dedication and practice.
In Leadership in ELT, NEAS will be presenting key skills that are vital in leading your organisation. The workshop includes a face to face workshop and access to the online course NEAS ELT Leadership Program. As a participant you will be part of a blended learning community, gaining insights from counterparts at the 2019 CamTESOL Conference, while getting a taste of the 2019 NEAS Management Conference – Leadership in ASEAN and Australia: Influencers in ELT.
The NEAS ELT Leadership Program has been underpinned by the instructional design concept of Thiagi’s four doors. The four doors are The Library (Readers are Leaders!), The Cafe (Social Learning), The Playground (Learning as Play) and Assessment Centre (Formative and Summative) and explores topics such as authentic, transformational, emerging and inspirational leadership.
