Lynda Yates is currently Professor of Linguistics at Macquarie University. She has taught English as a foreign or second language in the U.K., France, Egypt and Armenia and has a long involvement in teacher education and professional development, including teaching on the CELTA and initial teacher training and Masters courses in TESOL. She has a strong commitment to translating research into practice in TESOL and was active in the provision of professional development nation-wide through the AMEP Research centre, first as Senior Researcher and then as Acting Director. Her research interests include adult language learning inside and outside the classroom, and the development of intercultural spoken communication, particularly in the workplace.
