Rufus James

Presenting: NEAS ELT Leaders Program

After completion of a drama degree and formative years backpacking around the world and working in the French Alps, Rufus was forced by lack of funds to settle down and embarked upon a lifelong love affair with EFL teaching.

She has had a wide and varied career in EFL since 2004, teaching refugees and international students in England, Pakistan and Australia, being Academic Manager of a private language school in Brisbane, teaching barista and hospitality skills, and engaging in formal and informal teacher training.

She has a BA (Hons) Drama, Trinity CertTESOL, DELTA, TAE, IDLTM and Certificate in Counselling Skills, among other qualifications. Her educational interests include integrating cultural experience and intelligence into the classroom, teacher training and mentoring, creating and maintaining a positive organisational culture and coffee.

Rufus is currently a NEAS quality assurance assessor, a TESOL trainer and general dogsbody in her partner’s cafe in Brisbane. There may be brownies at her session.
